Team Championships - A Tradition of Winning

The Central Connecticut State University men’s soccer program competes at the NCAA Division level. We have won two Northeast Conference Championships in the past 4 seasons, establishing the Blue Devils as the premier team in the Northeast Conference. Our program has consistently produced great teams and outstanding players, many who have pursued professional careers after graduation. Now we are searching for talented players to play for us in 2015. This letter will provide you with information about our team.

The Central Connecticut Men’s Soccer Team has a proud tradition of winning. The Blue Devils have appeared in twelve Conference Championships, In addition, the team has been ranked in the National Top 25 on 14 occasions. We have qualified for NCAA National Tournament 3 times and played 5 games in the NCAA’s with a 3-2 record. In 2007 advanced to the NCAA “Sweet Sixteen”.

In 2011, The Blue Devils won the Northeast Conference championship and lead the Northeast Conference in Goals Scored and Points per Game. Junior, Forward, Reece Wilson lead the NEC in shots (40), while Wilson and Sophomore, Eddy Bogle finishing second in the conference for Points per Game. Bogle also finished first for most goals scored in conference play and game winning goals. Junior captain, Jessie Menzies finished second in the conference for assists and 17th in the nation. Reece Wilson, Thomas Obasi and Mamoudou Dioubate were selected to the NEC All Conference team and the NSCAA North Atlantic Regional Team. In addition, Reece Wilson and Ognen Stamenkovic made the NEC All Tournament Team and Shaun Green was selected as the NEC “Coach of the Year”

In 2007, Central won the Northeast Conference Championship and the automatic berth to the NCAA National Tournament. In the first round of the NCAA tournament CCSU defeated #15 Harvard University, 3-2. In the second round the Blue Devils beat #6 University of Tulsa, 3-2. Central Connecticut men's soccer became the University's first program to reach the round of 16 in a NCAA Division I Championship event. The Blue Devils are only the second team in Northeast Conference history to reach the “Sweet Sixteen” in any sport. The Blue Devils also concluded the season being nationally ranked in the NSCAA and College Soccer News Polls. We have been nationally ranked 14 times.
