Former Central Connecticut men's soccer player and assistant coach Paul Wright has been named the head coach for the newly created Hartford City FC team. The team will be joining the Major Arena Soccer League to begin play in the 23-team league in November. The MASL's 20-game slate will run from Nov. 1 to Feb. 28 and feature a six-team postseason. Schedule details will be out in September and Hartford City FC will play its 10 home games at the XL Center. "Paul is outstanding as a coach and role model," said CCSU head coach Shaun Green. "His contribution has been enormous to the success we achieved at CCSU. He is highly-respected in the Connecticut community for his knowledge of and dedication to the game. He is the perfect fit for Hartford City FC to bring back professional soccer to the Nutmeg State. We all wish him and Hartford City FC much success in the future." In addition to Paul Wright being named Head Coach, former Blue Devil assistant coach, Mitch Anderson was named General Manager of the Club.



Central Connecticut Men’s Soccer program has had over 30 players sign professional contracts after graduation. Recent graduates Reece Wilson, Thomas Obasi, Eddy Bogl and Yan Klukowski all signed professional contracts. CCSU’s “All American”, Reece Wilson signed a professional contract to play in the Costa Rican Premier League. While Thomas Obasi signed with USL Rochester Rhino’s and also inked a 2 year deal with Biltmore Blast of the Major Indoor Soccer League MISL. Striker Eddy Bogle signed with the Western Massachusetts Pioneers in the ASL.

Former “Herman Trophy finalist”, Yan Klukowski signed a two year contract with British League Two outfit Newport County FC. Raphael Guimmares signed pro in 2010 with a team Denmark. In 2008, David Tyrie signed pro contracts in the USL directly after graduating Alex Harrison and Peter Howe were drafted in the MISL first round by the Milwaukie Wave professional team. Harrison tried out for the MLS New England Revolution team and signed pro with the Wilmington Hammerheads of the USL. In 2005 Facundo Talin signed a professional contract with the Chicago club in Argentina.
